piece of pie

I learned how to make pies from my mom.  She always made perfect pies and I always try to make them as perfect as hers were.  I think I did pretty good this year.  I made three kinds:  pumpkin (of course), lemon meringe, and pecan.  They were pretty, and pretty tasty, if I do say so myself.

Your pies look wonderful and I’m sure they tasted that way too.
Let me get this straight…you made 3 pies and how many people were there to enjoy them? I know this is not a competition, but figure out the percentages for me. I had 10 people for dinner. That’s how many I always have. Anyway, I made 17 pies. 10 pumpkin, 3 cherry, 2 blueberry and 2 French apple. I was not going to make as many as I usually do, usually I make 14 or 15. I just couldn’t stop until the pie crumbs were gone.

I’ve heard that when it comes to pie, you are VERY competetive. I think we had 10 people as well, and three of those were toddlers. I actually made five pies, but Joey insisted that it would be ridiculous to bring that many pies. I think that he used the word “crazy” in fact. I wonder what he’d think about 17 pies?

He would just say, “I knew that woman was crazy the second I met her,” well maybe not right then because I met him when he was about 5 or 6, I think.
